Expect Good Things

I watched Joel Osteen's message today "Expect Good Things" and on this beautiful Sunday morning on this 4th of July weekend I don't know how I could ever expect more out of life. Joel's message today was a repeat from January 20, 2008 so it looks like I'll get another chance to see if I can improve on my writing. I could just repost my previous entry, but then I wouldn't get any writing practice and the Lord knows I need the practice.

Here are my notes from Joel's broadcast today: We should be living our lives with expectancy; We need to raise our level of expectancy; When we get up in the morning we should expect good things to happen to us; Do you go out of the house expecting God's favor? Release your faith by expecting God's favor; God is saying this is a new day and you should expect good things to happen in your life; Something good is going to happen to me today.

Joel quoted these verses of scripture:

Without having high expectations people lose their enthusiasm for life; Have an attitude of expecting good things to happen to you; God is longing to be good to you; Release your faith and expect good things to happen to you; With God all things are possible; God's dream for your life is so much bigger than your own; There are gifts and talents inside of you that you haven't even used yet!

Even though Joel's message was a repeat today I think that I could listen to it over and over again, because Joel is right. I truly believe that God wants good things to happen in our lives and He loves His children more than we will ever know!

The Voice of Victory!

Yes, it is Sunday morning and I listened to Joel Osteen's message today titled "Tuning in to the Voice of Victory" and I have decided to title the notes that I took today "The Voice of Victory!" Just because you have a thought doesn't mean you have to dwell on it; Get up each day and make a declaration of faith in God; You control the doorway to the entrance of your mind; I am forgiven is a thought to keep in mind.

Guard your mind; Your future is going to be better than your past; Train yourself to hear the good things that life has to offer, this is the day that the Lord has made; Weed out the negative thoughts an latch on to the good thoughts; Tune into specific thoughts and only listen to the thoughts that have the right sounds; You are deciding how you are going to feel by the thoughts you are having, make them good happy thoughts.

Quit renting out your mind to negative thoughts; Tune in to the voice of victory, I don't understand the voice of discouragement; You will see every dream that God has put in to your heart come true.

I am extremely upset with this policy from the BibleGateway about not be able to post the verses of the Bible on my page. Where would they be today if the scribes had not re-printed the Bible? I hope that if enough people complain about this policy that in the future it will change. God's word wasn't mean to be restricted and His will shall be done. I think that these kinds of thoughts are exactly what Joel was talking about today and I am not going to let this policy ruin my fellowship with God's word!

Encourage Yourself!

What a beautiful Sunday morning we have here in Michigan, and I watched Joel Osteen's message today titled: "Encourage Yourself!" Joel talk about having a zeal for life and it reminded me of my goal in life: To have a zest for life! Joel talked about how we have to learn to encourage ourselves and it reminded me of how I use to let my negative thoughts make me feel miserable. I was creating my own misery by listening to those negative voices, and I have changed the way that I think now.

I have given up on listening to all those terrible things that I use to think, and I think about all the good things that God has done in my life and it has renew my faith. We have control over what we think and thinking good thoughts makes me feel better about myself and the world I live in. These are my notes from Joel's message today: Learn to replay the victories in your life; We should tell our children and our grandchildren of the great things that God has done.

I don't have any children myself, but I get the idea and that's why I write the notes that I take from Joel's message. Every setback is a setup for something better in your life; The God I serve is well able to assist me now; You cannot get defeated when your mind is on the power of God; Start an encouragement file so that you can remember all the good things that people have said about you.

David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.

Write yourself some encouragement letters, even God praised Himself when He created the world and said it was very good Genesis 1:31; You have to feel good about who you are; You have to praise yourself about the good things you have done in your life. You can do exactly what God has created you to do; If you're going to stay encouraged you have to encourage yourself; Listen to the voice of victory; God is my provider.

Get up every morning thinking about the greatness of God!

I just love listening to Joel's positive prayer messages on Sunday mornings. I hope that you have enjoyed reading my notes that I took while I listened. There is just so much more to Joel's messages that I haven't written about so I want to encourage you to listen for yourselves. I hope that you have a great day, and remember to keep God first in your life and He will take you places that you have never dreamed of!

May you always have joy in the morning and trust in the evening and may your sorrows be short and without scars. Be a People Builder!

It's Sunday morning and I want to wish every father out there a Happy Father's Day today, but I also want to write down the notes that I took while I watched Joel Osteen's message: "Be a People Builder!" Being a people builder means you are looking for ways to bring out the best in people; Everyone needs to feel of value; We don't realize the power we have to encourage others; Jesus was a people builder He encouraged others to have faith in themselves; Joel encouraged the audience that they were the cream of the crop, the best.

A simple affirmation can change a person's life; Find ways to invest in others, telling them something good about themselves; Everyone needs to be blessed; Be free with your compliments; Simple words can make a big difference in someone else's life; Tell one good thing about someone else, I like you because you are so kind; Are you speaking the blessings to those around you?

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.
Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

We all love to be encouraged; Even Henry Ford and Abraham Lincoln needed to have a little encouragement; Flatter me and I may not believe you, Criticize me and I may not like you, but encourage me and I will never forget you; You never know how your encouragement will help other people; When you bring out the best in others, it brings out the best in you!

This Father's Day we should all be people builders and tell our Dads just how much we appreciate all the sacrifices that they made in their lives for us. I don't have any children, but if I did I know that hearing some encouraging words from a son or a daughter would mean the world to me!

Pushing People Up

I watched Joel Osteen's message today "Pushing People Up" and I like to write the notes that I took while I watched his show. Here are my notes: If you will help others fulfill their dreams then God will help you with your dreams; Who are you pushing up? None of us got to where we are without the help of others; Friends, you never lose when you push people up; Helping others is sowing seeds for your own harvest of fruits.

Joel quoted this verse of scripture:

Ecclesiastes 11:1
Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.

When you push people up, blessings come back to you; When you are good to other people God will bring your dreams to pass; You can do something to help others, it doesn't have to be something big; Take time to be good to others; Help from others inspires you to want to do the same; When you give you will receive.

Keep God first place in your life He will take you places that you have never dreamed of!

There is just so much more to Joel's message that I haven't captured here in my notes, and I want to encourage you to watch his sermons to see what his words will inspire in your life. Joel defiantly has his own way of teaching us God's word and he makes learning what's best for our lives a pleasure to hear!

Learn Something New!

It is Sunday! This is the day that the Lord has made; glory be to God! I watched Joel Osteen's message "Developing a Personal Growth Plan" and I am titling my writing "Learn Something New!" I have used: "The reason that I am doing this is to Learn something New!" as my tagline on my site: "My Unique Life in Windows Live Space" is it all a coincidence or is there more to it than that?

My notes from Joel's message: We should have a goal learn something new everyday; Take steps to grow; Always look for ways to improve; Develop your skills, don't stop learning; Be a problem solver; What are you doing to improve? What steps are you taking to grow?

I have to answer this question, "I am going to start recording Joel's sermons because I am so groggy when I first getup in the morning that I can't concentrate to take my notes to record them and write them down here in my Blog post." I have learned something new today and I have already set my VCR to record Joel's message for next Sunday.

I usually think that I am going to be able to listen to Joel's podcast or watch his sermon again on the Internet while I write my notes. The media is not available for me to do that today, so I just have to use the notes that I have: You can become everything God has created you to be; Make the most of what you have; God always knows what He's doing!

Joel quoted these verses of scripture:

Proverbs 22:29
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.
Proverbs 18:16
A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.

A few more notes: We are never supposed to stop learning; There's potential in you that you must pursue; Develop what God has put inside of you; Wake up and smell the coffee; Cream always rises to the top; Develop your skills and don't stop learning; Learn to be a problem solver; Take advantage of the time you have to learn; Expand your thinking; Be open to learn; You need good people speaking to you; Look around you; Life is too short; Destination disease is contagious.

I always feel like I haven't captured the essences of Joel's message, but I have done the best that I can and I can't expect more from myself than I am capable of delivering. My notes are my way of writing down what I thought was important to me in Joel's message today. I know that there's so much more to his words of wisdom that I have missed, so I want to encourage you to watch and listen to his messages!

God Can Turn Back Time!

It's Sunday morning on this Memorial Day weekend, and I watched Joel Osteen's message "God Can Turn Back Time!" Joel's sermon today was a repeat, and I thought it was pretty amazing that not only can God turn back time, but Joel is giving me another chance to write about his message.

Here's what I wrote the first time I heard this message: What Time Is It? I must not have been taking notes at that time with my writing because I don't have any details, but I get another chance today, and here are my notes: God always gives us another chance; God has new opportunities ahead of us.

Joel quoted these verses of scripture:

Joel 2:25
I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm—my great army that I sent among you.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

A few more notes: Hezekiah's Illness, "I will add fifteen years to your life"; God can restore the years you have wasted; Keep God's promises in the forefront of your mind; Learn to meditate on God's word; You have got to know all of Heaven is pulling for you; Keep believing, stay the course, don't sellout on your future; The depth of your past is an indication of the height of your future; Restoration is coming your way.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day and I was trying to think of a way to turn back time for all the military personal and their family's sacrifices. My heart goes out to those courageous people who have all given us so much of their lives for the joyous freedom that we have here in America. I can't change time, but I can honor the memory of these patriotic souls who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Broaden Your Life

It's Sunday and I watched Joel Osteen's message today titled "Broaden Your Life". I didn't realize Joel and I were so much alike until I watched his sermon and found out about how he doesn't like trying new things, either. He talked about how Victoria, his wife, has helped him to try new things and to broaden his horizons.

These are the notes that I took while I watched Joel's message: God wants us to be well rounded; Look for new interests; Could it be that your life is too small?

Joel quoted this verse of scripture:

Psalm 24:1
The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

Do something outside of the box; You need some variety; We need to be exposed to something new; If you want a rich life you need to expose yourself to new things; We grow when we are around new people; Cultivate some new friendships; All around you there is so much life; Put some variety in your life.

Open up your mind to the endless possibilities of life; Learn something new broaden your horizons; You may be missing the best parts of your life because you won't step out of your box; Do something out of your ordinary routine; Look at the things you may be missing out on in your life!

Having this website in Windows Live Space and writing something in my Blog everyday is my way of learning something new. I don't believe Joel's saying I need to change the things that add variety into my life, but to expand my horizons and continue to explore the new possibilities that are right here in front of me. Being able to put my thoughts here and share them with the world, I feel, is broadening my life!

Don't think that Way!

It's Sunday morning and it's Mother's Day, I watched Joel Osteen's message today titled "Freedom From Wrong Mindsets" and I am titling my writing "Don't think that Way!" The reason I am using that title for my writing is I am always wonder: Why Joel's message isn't about Mother's Day? Really I shouldn't be thinking that way though; I am just being lazy because I don't want to write two entries for my Blog today, one for my notes from Joel's message and one for Mother's Day.

Talking about having the wrong mindset, I should be happy just to be alive and to be able to write two entries for my Blog today, Right? I don't even know why I feel the need to write about this today, I guess it's just because that's what I am thinking. Here are my notes from Joel's message: This is another day the Lord has made, are you ready to rejoice?

Joel quoted this verse of scripture:

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Find something to be grateful for today; Joel mentioned putting on the "garment of praise" instead of a spirit of despair. Isaiah 61:3; Why don't you make a decision to put on an attitude of faith today, I am going to put on an attitude of praise; Break free from the wrong mindset; One of the best things we can do is hit the delete button and get rid of those wrong mindsets.

God's mercy is new every morning; I am going to become whatever God's plan is for my life; There's still time for you to reach your destiny; Recognize your wrong mindsets; Are you just accepting things because that's the way things are? You can renew your mind. It reminded me of this quote by Henry Ford: "Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right."

Joel message has so much more in it than I can possibly tell you about here with my writing ability and I want to encourage you to listen to him. Another thing that Joel said was; Jesus said when we believe all things are possible; Be a believer; 2008 is going to be your best year yet!
